Membership of 1st Jerrabomberra Scout Group
1st Jerrabomberra Scout Group welcomes membership of youth, but also highly values the participation of adults as either a uniformed leader, a member of the parent committee, an active parent helper, or through service as part of the parent participation scheme.
Adult representatives of each family within the Group (represented by the youth sections) are expected to provide some level of service to the group. As a totally volunteer organisation, 1st Jerrabomberra relies on the help provided by adults to ensure that the youth led, adult supported program can be effectively delivered.
Youth members must apply to become a member of Scouts New South Wales. This is done through the completion of a Y1 - Application for Youth Membership - form. This must be done as soon as practicably after consultation with the section leader as this form provides important information not only for the membership of the organisation, but also for emergency situations.
The Y1 form (and many others) can be found here
Following submission of the Y1, and payment of the associated joining and membership fees, investiture into the movement will be coordinated with the section leader.
Further information can be found HERE.
We welcome adult participation in three main areas:
We also strongly encourage all families to be actively involved in the Group activities. This is managed through the Parent Participation Program, further information for which can be found HERE.
Uniformed leaders are the backbone of the program delivery in the youth sections. Information on becoming a leader in NSW can be found HERE. The best recipe of course is speak to one of our current leaders and find out more, go to the contact us page if you don't know any of our friendly leaders.
Behind the scenes, the parent committee ensures that the finances, stores and facilities are available for the program to effectively run. There are a very wide range of opportunities available where you can assist, from secretarial support, through financial and equipment support, to fundraising, grant, and community liaison. The parent committee is very much a more the merrier affair and we will always welcome a helping hand to make light work of the tasks that need doing. Contact Us to find out more.
